Canine College

Trusted By Those Who Expect More

Brandmark Studios partnered with Canine College to bring its story and services to life across a new website, original photography and video, and marketing for its 80th anniversary. Canine College’s in-person experience had long outpaced its digital presence. Our goal was to memorialize, modernize, and activate an 80-year legacy, closing that gap so every touchpoint reflected the caliber of the estate and the expertise behind it.

Family owned since 1946, Canine College has spent three generations training and boarding dogs on its private property in Redding, Connecticut. Its approach pairs high standards with a deep respect for each dog. At Canine College, discipline is an organized expression of love, and excellence is simply the tradition.

As Canine College approached its 80th anniversary, its reputation had been built almost entirely through referrals and the experience of the estate itself. Its digital presence had not kept pace, falling short of the heritage, expertise, and standard of care that defined the business in person. The brand needed to modernize without losing the recognition and trust earned over three generations. It also needed to shift perception from a boarding and training facility to a heritage-driven institution, one that would appeal to a select group of discerning clients rather than a broad audience. Canine College needed a cohesive brand and digital foundation that matched the caliber of the experience on the estate.

Brandmark worked with Canine College to create a clearer, more welcoming digital experience grounded in what makes the business distinctive. We shaped the website’s design and content around its family history, approach to dogs, and setting. Original photography and video brought those qualities into view, while anniversary marketing and outreach helped mark the milestone.

Brandmark began with an in-depth discovery process, including client questionnaires and an on-site workshop, to define the brand pillars, positioning, and voice that would guide every element of the work. The existing logo was thoughtfully evolved rather than replaced, preserving the recognition earned over generations while refining it for clarity and longevity. A new palette of deep navy, rich greens, and warm creams, paired with classic typography, draws from the estate’s landscape and timeless country character. Supported by brand guidelines for logo and typography usage, the refreshed identity gives Canine College a consistent, understated presence across every touchpoint.

Brandmark redesigned and rebuilt the Canine College website with a light, uncluttered look that lets the estate, the dogs, and the people take center stage. Vintage photographs connect today’s Canine College to the generations that came before it, while the site’s content guides visitors through its training and boarding services and the philosophy behind them. In keeping with how the business has always operated, every call to action invites a personal phone conversation rather than an online booking. The result is a digital presence that feels true to the experience Canine College has built over 80 years.

Brandmark directed and produced an on-site photo and video shoot capturing the estate as clients experience it: the arrival, the grounds, trainers working one-on-one with dogs, and the quiet moments of care that define a stay. The resulting library, including an 80th anniversary brand film and video featured on the home page, anchors the new website and provides evergreen assets for future use. Alongside the imagery, Brandmark wrote new copy for every page of the site. The copy tells the story of Canine College’s founding by Army K-9 Corps veteran John Behan, articulates its training philosophy, and presents each service with clarity and restraint.

Canine College’s 80th anniversary gave Brandmark an opportunity to share the story behind eight decades of family ownership. We developed marketing for the milestone, created print ads, and secured coverage in multiple publications, including 068 Magazine, the Hartford Courant, and the Fairfield County Business Journal.

For the anniversary event, we edited a long-form video to be shown to guests. Featuring interviews with the owners and employees, the history of Canine College, and sweeping aerial footage of the property, it brought the family’s story to life. We also hired a photographer to capture the celebration.
